Hello Rotarians. I am writing with your Rotary Recap. First let me say, I know we would all like to limit the number of emails and I promise as we get past the major fundraiser planning and the 5-year planning that the emails will slow down for a while. That being said, there is a lot going on in our club and we want to make sure everyone gets all the information – especially that information that most interests them.
Our Friday meetings remain super active. The room continues to be full each week and that is AWESOME. I apologize for the delay in the food last week. We do work hard to have it ready by 11:45.
Before the actual recap information – this coming Saturday is the Rotary Membership Rally in Roseburg. Gerry is offering an all expenses paid trip to anyone who wishes to accompany him. I have been there the last two years and it is a great way to learn more about Rotary, our membership and how to help our club become even better. I highly encourage you to accompany Gerry and attend if you are able.
Thanks to Jen Costa for her invocation and pledge. We did not have a specific Rotary moment, but I did share about our major fundraising planning and have sent a separate email on that. Remember – we are having the decision making meeting at 6:00pm at Market of Choice on Tuesday, 2/2/2015. We also had Jeff Davis tell us about our 5-year planning session. He sent around a sign up sheet and we sent an email also. Please let him know ASAP if you can participate. This visioning is crucial to the the success of our club and is a huge help to your club’s leadership teams.
President-elect Gerry had multiple announcements including:
1. Essay contest readers needed
2. Athletic Award timeline-member calendar alert
3. Benton Community Foundation – call for granting volunteers
4. Membership rally (see above)
5. The all-service club luncheon on Friday the 27th at the Boys and Girls Club. REMEMBER – we will be having our club’s meeting there that day – not at the Country Club.
Any questions on the above – please contact Gerry soon as the good work he is doing is time sensitive and volunteers are needed. drgerryk@gmail.com
We were fortunate to have 2 middle school students of the month presented by Inge King and Van Melick. These are great kids and it is always an honor to hear of the amazing things they are doing. In addition Dave Henderer reminded us about the upcoming Mock Interview in which he needs help and Michele Kellison shared with us her plans for a “Get to know you” dinner. Please contact them for more info.
We had a great presentation by Jim Coonan is a director at our local RAIN – Regional Accelerator and Innovative Networks. There is amazing innovation and business creation happening right here in Corvallis and the mid-Willamette Valley.
This coming Friday the 6th we will have a great program on Rotary Peace Fellowships. The work Rotary does around the world to make it a better place is simply amazing. We are all part of that and this is your chance to come and learn more.
Thanks everyone. Make it a great week. Watch for your Thursday update. I hope to see you tomorrow evening for our fundraising planning meeting and Friday for our meeting. Let me know if you need anything at all.
