Happy Easter Rotarians. It is with pleasure I write this weeks Rotary Recap.
Friday was simply an inspiring day at Rotary. Next to our club anniversary meeting last fall, I believe it may have been our most attended day of the year with close to 80 people. Love it!
Everyone also received their first official invite to our upcoming Changing of the Guard event. See attached :). Stan and Glenda have an AMAZING evening planned for all of us. The event is on June 25th and I promise will be an evening to remember for all of us.. NOBODY will want to miss this special night. It will be our club’s biggest party of the year. PLEASE mark your calendars now.
The day started with the board meeting. We then welcomed back Ben Danley back with us after his 4 month journey. Andy Tucknott delivered a very inspiring invocation and Mike Sheets presented the high school sports awards for the year. On top of that we had a great program from Brenda Vandevelder and The Corvallis Public Schools Foundation.
THANKS to all who participated in our final big Foundation drive of the 2014/2015 year. A special thanks to Kathleen Hutchinson, Andrea Thornberry and Jim Swinyard for making our Foundation Bingo a big success. In addition, thanks to our our Steve Sullivan and Doug Oxen for providing awesome prizes. We sure appreciated it. The Foundation Bingo in the month of March earned right around $3700 for the Rotary Foundation. THANKS everyone.
The last couple weeks have had some loss for members of our club. Our thoughts are with everyone during their time of mourning (Incoming President Gerry K., Stan and Glenda Baker and Bob Grant). Please keep them in your thoughts.
Our club, Rotary community, her family and Corvallis also lost Sandie Campbell. In observance of the losses above and Sandie, we had a moment of silence on Friday. Below is some information about Sandie for those of you who did not know her. Please keep her, Gary Campbell and Steve Uerlings in your thoughts.

Sandie was inducted into the Rotary Club of Greater Corvallis while Gary Campbell was District Governor in 1995. As Gary remembers she was proposed by Joanne Kersey who was president that year. She left to help found the Rotary Club of Corvallis After 5 of which she was a charter member.
Sandie and both her children are PHF’s (as are her father, mother, husband & sister) and she was very active in district programs to raise funds for TRF. An interesting footnote – Daughter Megan was made a PHSM in 1994 by then president of the Rotary Club of Corvallis Mario Pastega when she was only a few weeks old.
Sandie attended many district functions including her first of several district conferences at age 15 (along with her 13 year old sister) and her children have not only attended district conferences but also PETS in Seattle.

Let me know if you need anything at all.

Message from President-elect Gerry:
“Want to help take our club to higher levels? Join other club members at the District Training Assembly in Cottage Grove on Saturday, April 11. The purpose of the district assembly is to prepare incoming club officers, committee chairs, and other club leaders for their year in office. This District also provides learning opportunities for club members in general and members new to Rotary to learn more about what is happening in our District and Rotary International. The program offers something for everyone. A continental breakfast and lunch are provided free but registration is required. Register for the DTA on DACdb. Attendees registering and present for the DTA’s closing plenary at 3:15pm will be eligible to win prizes, including a Paul Harris Fellow!
For more information, contact Gerry Kosanovic.

Lets Make History Together
Dear Fellow Rotarians;
Our club is embarking on a quest to develop an important and valuable historical profile of our club. Other Benton County clubs are also doing this, and of course we expect our effort will not be outdone! In order to accomplish our goal, we need everyone to contribute. Here is what we need.
Send me everything you can gather, including photographs (very important as we intend do develop a visual product) and written concise descriptions, of past and present events, programs, projects, and anything else our club has been involved in during your years in Rotary. No event is too big or small to be important. Photos hard copies can be given to me, President Lee, Judy Corwin, or Al Hutchinson.
I will mark you off the list as you reply. If you don’t reply, you will be contacted again (and again, and again, and again…) until I hear from you. You might as well save both of us some aggravation and “get ‘er done!”.
Our deadline for information gathering is May 1.
Some folks will be putting much effort into this project, so please do your small part to make their job easier. Thanks!
In Rotary,
Mike Sheets

Rotary Friendship Exchange is Rotary’s exchange program for single Rotarians or Rotarians and their spouses. Friendship Exchanges allow Rotarians the op¬portunity to experience another culture or geographic area first hand in the homes of Rotarians in another country or district. The exchanges are reciprocal and usually last about two to three weeks. The goal of the program is to advance international understanding, goodwill, and peace through person-to-person contact across national boundaries. District 5110 focuses solely on team exchanges and preference will be given to those helping organize and host an incoming exchange. Visits usually include three to four different hosts and hosts are located in different parts of the district. Rotarians would spend two to three nights with each host. The number of participants in an exchange varies from four to six couples, singles, or a combination (for a total of 12).
An incoming Swedish team will be visiting our area June 2nd – 5th. We are looking for hosts for 3 couples and 2 singles. Hosts will transport the guests to scheduled activities. Hosts will also suggest local events, places, and activities that match the guests interests. Hosts will provide housing and some meals. There is no reimburse¬ment for hosting. However, hosts may be considered for future out-going teams. Future out-going team destinations being considered are India, Wales, Peru, Philippines and Turkey.
