Shelter Boxes to the Rescue

Rotary Shelter Boxes arrive just when they are needed, within 72 hours of a request when there is an international disaster or need. Kieran Walsh and Greg Vik shared the boxes that open into 15 by 15 tents when needed at the March 18 Greater Corvallis Rotary Club meeting at Corvallis Country Club. The shelters are easy to assembly and provide a temporary home for those in need. Rotarians were able to walk inside the tents to witness all they offer.

Also at the meeting, Rotarians heard an inspirational message from Charlie Mitchell, welcomed guests and visitors, celebrated birthdays and anniversaries and heard a karoke rendition of Happy Days and Wild thing.

On Saturday, Rotarians used their gardening skills to help clean up at Benton County Park on NW 29th Street. Volunteers mowed, raked, edged, and weeded to improve the space. Additional work parties will be held on the following Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Contact Becki Goslow at becki.goslow@gmail.com, if you’d like to help.

Additional Work Parties are scheduled: April 9, May 14, June 4, July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, and, March 19, 2017
