A very good morning. It was another beautiful weekend in Corvallot – and of course started with an epic day at Rotary. I am writing today with your Recap 🙂
Each week it takes a team of people to pull off our meetings. I did not know this before I got into this position. I am not always good at saying thank you – so today let me start with an EXTRA LOUD THANK YOU to everyone who volunteers to help. From setup to greeters to the invocation and more – it would not happen without your efforts. Be sure to sign up at you next opportunity.
I had a lot of fun last week. We had some free time to catch up on our friend’s lives, we hear some great intros from new club members to our own Rick Schroff and had another epic raffle.
We are pushing forward with our Rotary Movie Night Planning. We announced on Friday that the movie has been chosen and it is the classic “ET”. What did you miss by not being at the meeting – Reese’s Pieces for everyone in honor of the announcement 🙂 It will be super fun to see this movie in Avery Park on June 6th. We have a great Facebook page where you can stay connected – https://www.facebook.com/rotarymovienight . The planning/steering committee is still in need of help. Stay tuned for opportunities. The next meeting of the planning committee will be on Friday, June 5th. The meeting will be led by Kelley Hook (as I will be gone) and will be at Avery Park right after Rotary – so around 1:20. The goal is to get a feel for the setting and let all the ideas come to life
This week we welcome our Friendship Exchange. Thanks a bunch to Tom Nelson and friends for making the Friendship Exchange possible for our club. For more information about the schedule and or if you would like to be involved – be sure to reach out to Tom at Tom.Nelson@CorvallisOregon.gov. Don’t forget about the Friendship Exchange dinner happening at the Vue on Thursday, June 4 at 6:30pm – but you do need to be preregistered. Our new friends will also be at our meeting on Friday, June 5th. Be sure to say hi.
A special thanks to Jeff Davis who on Friday presented to our club a summary of the 5-year visioning we did this year. It was a well-planned, well thought our process that helps provide guidance for our club into the future. There are a lot of club members and district members involved to make it possible. IF you would like a copy of the presentation, feel free to reach out to Jeff at davisj@linnbenton.edu .

I will be gone this week. I am taking my annual mountain bike trip. This year we are off to Moab, Utah – the center of the Mountain Biking world. I am leaving today and will return on June 7th. If you need anything, please reach out to me by noon today – otherwise I will respond either as soon as I can or when I return.
In my absence on Friday, 2013/2014 past-President Jeff Davis will be leading our club meeting on Friday. We are planning for 90 people – which could be our biggest meeting of the year. Be sure to come early as the action packed meeting will get an early start. If you have any announcements, full or power, please let Jeff know prior to Friday’s meeting so he can plan accordingly – davisj@linnbenton.edu . Remember it is the first Friday of the month and that means it is CAKE DAY!!!! Below is an update on that meeting

Greeters – Inge King, Tom Nelson

As I end this week, I want to share that another one of the great gifts of being president of the club is the continued learning about the Magic of Rotary. This week I spent some time being inspired about the history of Women in Rotary. If you would like to learn more, visit http://www.rotaryfirst100.org/women/
Thanks everyone. Have a great week and I will see you on June 12th .
Sincerely,
Lee Eckroth
