5/08/2015: President Lee's Weekly Message

Greetings! Sorry for the late delivery of this recap. It has been a crazy week along with Rotary District Conference last weekend. That being said, I apologize for the delay. The good news is that our next Rotary meeting is just a couple of days away and that always makes me smile 🙂
I was absent last week, but I heard Gerry had a great meeting getting the gavel for the first time. Below is the recap provided from Gerry for those who were not there. I will also be gone on June 5th and Jeff Davis will be leading the meeting.

“Great meeting. The GMO debate illuminated the differences and presented the divisions that separate the issue on the ballot. The main message: VOTE! Al Hutchinson did a great job of moderating.
*Judy Corwin delivered a heartfelt inspirational message for Mother’s Day
Announcements:
*Maura (from Albany) delivered the Mother’s Day Flowers. (Lee note: My wife and mother-in-law loved theirs)
*Amy – talked about Girls on the Run
*Mike Sheets invited Rotarians to join him with the Angel Conference.
*Kay Dee Cole is organizing a Portland trip to see “Wicked”
*Megan talked about the Youth Exchange program.
*Kate took a poll to see the best time to practice for our special event at Movie Night Movie Night was announced as a total club event, asking everyone to pick a committee to work with. It’s happening, it’s real, let’s have fun with it!

Four members of the OSU Rotaract provided members with an update of their activities. Great energy.

Lillian Turman from Franklin School was presented as the Student of the Month. Van Melick was delayed in Portland, so Gerry will provide the plaque to her at school.

Thanks to Bronwyn and Ben for the meeting set up; Carol Lee and Josh as greeters”
This coming Friday will be most excellent. Michele Kellison will be talking about the District Conference for our Rotary Moment (and you will not want to miss this as she has some special news for our club) and Ben Danley will be doing our program with an update about his life changing trip. On top of that, we have Flash Mob training after the meeting with Kate Lacy. On top of that we will be inducting two new members. AWESOME!

Please remember, put June 25th on your calendar. It would mean the world to me and the club if you made it to our Changing of the Guard meeting and dinner. It will be a special evening.
Thanks everyone. Make it a great rest of the week and see you at noon on Friday. If you ever need anything, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am always available.
