Celebrate Corvallis

Friday night was the annual Celebrate Corvallis gala in Corvallis. Each year we are reminded through this event about how wonderful Corvallis is – because of the amazing people who are here. This year did not disappoint and I left thinking to myself “There is no place like Corvallis” 🙂

It is amazing to me to witness how Rotary is involved in our community and the work that you all do – each and every one of you. This year, many of our club members and their organization were recognized for making their magic happen. Friday night was special! The room was full of Rotarians from the 5 clubs of Benton County and our club even had two sponsored tables.

Below is a list of those nominated and those who were the recipients of the awards – from our club. Congratulations to all!! (I am sorry in advance if I missed anyone.)

First Citizen: Congratulations Judy Corwin on being the recipient of the award for the First Citizen of Corvallis. Very, very cool! Helen Higgins and Mike Sheets were also nominated. All three of you are truly amazing.

Business of the Year: Congratulations to our own Dave Henderer and Henderer Design and Build for being the recipient of this special award (epic speech). Russ Hedge of ServePro and Frank Heresco of Heresco Chirpractic were also nominated. Thanks to all three of you for making Corvallis wonderful.

Junior First Citizen: THREE of our members were nominated!!! Congratulations to Lorena Reynolds for being the recipient. Andrea Thornberry and Kate Lacy were also nominated. The positive energy all three of you share with the community is addictive.

Senior First Citizen: Congratulation to our own Ron Thiesen on his nomination. Your years and years and years of dedication are seen throughout our community.

Good Stewart of the Planet: Congratulations to Helen Higgins and the Boys and Girls Club of Corvallis on your nomination. It is amazing what you do with the resources you have for the kids of Corvallis – while also working to leave a smaller carbon footprint while doing so.

Jim and Ruth Howland Special Achievement Award: It was inspiring to see the Starker Family receive this special award for their years of dedication to our community. Bond and Barte Starker are great examples of giving back and the Rotary way and it is a great honor to have Barte as an honorary member of our club.
