April Fool's Meeting Full of Fun

A “Dress-Like-Gerry” look-alike activity was the theme for the April 1 meeting of the Greater Corvallis Rotary Club.

Rotarian Van Melick introduced Middle School Students of the Month, Maddie Garretson, Zion Lutheran, and Jessica Hovermale, Cheldelin. Each student won a gift certificate to the Book Bin for their scholastic excellence.

Dr. Lou Osternig, professor emeritus in the Department of Human Physiology at the University of Oregon, presented an interesting study abut concussions, or mild traumatic brain injuiries, and the effects these injuries have on the cognitive and motor functions of university and high school students. Nearly 1.5 million traumatic brain injuries occur each year. In high school athletics, an estimated 136,000 concussions occur per academic year.
