The finest all-around scholar-athletes of Corvallis and Crescent Valley High Schools were honored at their respective sports dessert events in March by the Greater Corvallis Rotary Club.
The seasonal sports awards are presented by the club to recognize Raiders and Spartans in each sport for their playing ability, character, leadership and teamwork. Plaques are awarded to the winners at the end of the fall, winter and spring seasons.
The Crescent Valley High School recipients this winter announced at their March 15 sports dessert included Erika Twenge and Meredith Wells, girls’ swimming; wrestlers Alex Rich and Brennan King; Bryce Johnson, boys’ skiing; Stephanie Cleland, girls’ skiing; and Hailey Souther and Tiana Duncan of the cheer team.
Corvallis High School recipients were unveiled at their sports dessert on March 5. They included Paul Puettmann, boys’ alpine skiing; Ari Blatt, girls’ alpine skiing; Sam Curtis, boys’ nordic skiing; Jaclyn Zalesky, girls’ basketball; Nolan Hansen, boys’ basketball; Blin Dixon, wrestling; Erika Weiler, girls’ swimming; Joe Serewis, boys’ swimming and Brittany Cox, cheer.
The Greater Corvallis Rotary Club coordinates the awards with the athletics directors and coaches of the two Corvallis-based high schools. Michele Kellison is the current president of the Club, which includes 102 community and business leaders in the Corvallis area.
