I’m writing from Tampa, Florida where it’s currently 89 degrees with 70% humidity – it’s really hot. Being my final day i’m just making sure I’ve prepared everything. I’ve packed everything I think I need (maybe I need too much stuff…), reconfirmed my flights, called my bank, called my host family to tell them when I’m coming (they’re really nice), and have received my VISA and passport. Part of me is fully aware that i’m leaving to another country where I don’t speak the language to live with strangers, and part of me isn’t. I have a very exciting adventure ahead!
My itinerary for today: I went to the beach around 7 am and spent my morning in the ocean, walking all around Clearwater beach, I came home finished packing, checking that I have everything prepared, and then my family and I will head into Tampa to enjoy a nice dinner with my family.
I want to thank everyone for all the support I’ve been given, all of the words of advice and blessings I’ve heard, and for all the help organizing my trip. I feel prepared and ready to take on whatever challenge comes in front of me. I leave tomorrow from Tampa at 1:30 PM, arrive in Atlanta at 3:06 and head to Belgium at 5:45 where I will arrive at 8:30 AM.
I am truly blessed to be part of such an incredible support system and to have so much preparation beforehand. I am lucky to call myself a Rotary Youth Exchange Student.
Talk to you soon!
