Rotary Community Corp coming Dec. 1

ri-flyer-8x11 What is a Rotary Community Corp (RCC)?

A team of non-Rotarians who are flexible partners in service for existing Rotary clubs. An RCC has its own governance and pursuit of service initiatives with leadership development provided by the sponsoring Rotary club.

What is the purpose of an RCC?

To empower communities to address their needs by developing and participating in sustainable service initiatives. The goals of an RCC are: 1) to develop partnerships between Rotarians and non-Rotarians in a joint effort to enhance their community, 2) to support community members who proactively address community needs, recognizing their unique ability to identify the most pressing concerns and suitable methods of implementation, and 3) to promote sustainable solutions to community needs by engaging a broader segment of the community in developing and implementing focused service projects.

Why is the Rotary Club of Greater Corvallis (RCGC) interested in starting a young professionals’ RCC?

In speaking with young pros within our community, the RCGC discovered that not only were financial and time commitments barriers for young pros to join a Rotary club, but also the intimidation factor of joining a club with established community leaders. People join Rotary for service and stay for fellowship; therefore, the RCGC envisions a young pros RCC as a pathway to develop future Rotarians by establishing the proper context to engage with them today.

How is young pros defined?

The RCGC views anyone under the age of 40 as ‘young’. However, we encourage all ages to check it out to determine if there is mutual interest and opportunity.

What are the requirements to establish an RCC?

10 charter, service-minded adults of good character and leadership potential that understand and accept the provisions of the RCC guidelines and bylaws.

What are the time and financial commitments to be a member of an RCC?

An RCC shall meet at least once per month with a member of the sponsoring Rotary club in attendance. Any fees or dues to be paid by the members shall be nominal and shall be for the sole purpose of meeting administrative costs.

What are the expectations of the RCC?

An RCC shall undertake at least two projects annually. One of the major projects shall be to serve the community and the other shall be to provide the opportunity for members to serve through their vocations or develop the vocational skills of its members.
